Manchester United will pay an initial £12.8m to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Serie A giants Juventus, with the payment spread over the next five years.
The Portuguese forward’s return to Old Trafford has been confirmed today and the player signed a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
‘Manchester United is delighted to confirm the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo on a two-year contract with the option to extend for a further year, subject to international clearance,’ a statement read.’

Ronaldo had a year left to run on his deal in Turin and Juventus had simply been keen to get a fee for the former Real Madrid attacker, who they signed for £99m in 2018.
And Juve confirmed today that the Red devils will pay at least £12.8m to sign Ronaldo, with another £6.8m based on his success at Old Trafford.
‘Juventus Football Club announces that an agreement with Manchester United FC for the definitive disposal of the registration rights of the player Cristiano Ronaldo has been reached for a consideration of 15million euros payable in five financial years, which might be increased, up to a maximum of 8m euros, upon achievement of specific performance objectives over the duration of the employment contract with the player,’ a statement read.’
On his return to United, Ronaldo said: Cristiano Ronaldo said: ‘Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday.
‘I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again. I’m looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead.’
Daniel James will now join Leeds United before the transfer window closes, with the Red Devils hoping to make a profit of around £14m on the player.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were close to signing James in 2019 but a move to the club broke down in January and he moved to Old Trafford that summer for around £16m.
