Chelsea’s Cole Palmer is being rumored to potentially leave Stamford Bridge after his exceptional weekend performance against Tottenham Hotspur.
Palmer, currently ranked 18th on FourFourTwo’s list of the world’s best players, scored two penalties, leading Chelsea to a 4-3 victory in the London Derby.
He is currently listed at 25/1 odds to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or and has scored 33 goals in 48 Premier League matches since joining Chelsea. ..Continue Reading
After securing the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards last season, Chelsea now hold second place in the league, with several clubs showing interest in Palmer’s future.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has highlighted Palmer’s significance to Chelsea, stating that no player in the Premier League has outperformed Palmer in the last 18 months – not even Mohamed Salah – causing a stir on social media.
“I loved him last season, and he’s started this season really well,” Carragher said on Super Sunday.
“If you look at his almost 18 months at Chelsea, I don’t think there’s been a player in the Premier League that’s performed better than him over these 18 months. And he hasn’t been playing for the best team, though they look like one of the best teams in the league right now.”
Spanish outlet Fichajes now claims that Real Madrid are tracking the player, and that Palmer himself is “interested” in Los Blancos.
“The player’s future will depend on both Chelsea’s willingness to listen to offers and Real Madrid’s plans to carry out a transaction that promises to be complex,” they claim, calling the 22-year-old a “long-term bet”.
Although Palmer recently signed a nine-year contract with Chelsea, which might explain the “complex” nature of the situation mentioned in the report.
Extracting the England international from Chelsea would likely require a world-record transfer fee and making him one of the highest-paid players globally.
According to Transfermarkt, Palmer is valued at €90 million. Chelsea will face Brentford in an unusual Sunday 7 pm kick-off slot next weekend when Premier League action returns.
