In a significant hint at a potential transfer move, Jurgen Klopp has disclosed that Jarrod Bowen, the standout talent from West Ham, is his ‘favorite player’ outside of Liverpool’s own team.

Klopp made this statement just before Liverpool’s Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against West Ham on Wednesday night.

Reports from September suggested that Liverpool was contemplating a bid for Bowen, possibly as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, amidst links to the Saudi Pro League.

Bowen is a player Liverpool reportedly ‘admires’ and has been monitoring for several seasons.

Having scored a decisive last-minute winner in the previous season’s Europa Conference League final, Bowen has etched his name into West Ham’s history.

The versatile England international, adept as a forward or winger, has displayed excellent form, contributing 10 goals and one assist in 16 Premier League games this season.

Given Bowen’s recent performance and the fact that he signed a new seven-year deal in October, any potential transfer is likely to command a substantial fee.

But Klopp has made no secret of his interest in the player ahead of the January window as he told Sky Sports: ‘In quarter-finals, everybody can smell the chance to go through.

‘In a very busy period, finding a line-up which can go and go and go because West Ham is a physically really strong team, David [Moyes] is doing an incredible job, I have to say. They are good again, through in Europe, it’s really impressive. Injuries issues as well.

‘Playing without [Michail] Antonio, and Bowen steps up in that position – probably my favourite player besides my players – it’s just great what he’s doing and how he develops.’
