Klopp provides Mohamed Salah injury update after Liverpool beat Tottenham

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has eased concerns Mohamed Salah suffered another injury during the side’s hard-fought Premier League win over Tottenham.

The Premier League leaders maintained their six-point gap at the top of the table with a 2-1 victory over Spurs at Anfield.

England striker Harry Kane put struggling Tottenham in front with a header within 48 seconds and goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga pulled off a number of outstanding saves to thwart Liverpool.

But the hosts equalised through Jordan Henderson and Salah thumped home a winner from the penalty spot as Liverpool were able to extend their unbeaten run at home to 45 matches.

Despite the win, Liverpool supporters were concerned Salah had picked up another injury during the game after being replaced by Joe Gomez.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed the Egyptian superstar had a sore ankle but said: ‘It’s not a massive issue.’

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson, meanwhile, added: ‘After 48 seconds I was thinking it was my fault because I gave the ball away for their goal.

‘Thankfully I managed to get a goal to make up for it. I’m just delighted for the three points. We were hanging on a little bit.

‘In the first half I thought we played really The keeper made some great saves. Our mentality has improved. That’s grown over the last few years and the gaffer has changed that so much.

‘We have faced adversity at times. It’s not always going to go your own way.’

Tottenham’s defeat means the north London side remain in the bottom-half of the table and Pochettino said: ‘We were very competitive. I think we suffered in the first half – they were better than us. I think we defended well and the team was very committed.

‘I don’t think it is the belief. We have the belief and the confidence. We need to dominate the game more and play better with the players we had on the pitch.’
