Klopp targets meeting with Timo Werner to finalise £50m move to Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp intends to meet with Timo Werner to convince the RB Leipzig forward to sign for the club, reports say.

The Reds are facing huge competition from Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea and the German is still weighing up his options.

According to Sport Bild, a meeting between Klopp and Werner was on the agenda before the coronavirus crisis forced most of the world to go into shutdown.

Klopp wants to meet personally with Timo Werner to get to know him better and explain his vision to the player.

Werner has scored 21 times in 24 Bundesliga matches this campaign and Klopp is more determined than ever to bring the goalscorer to Anfield.

Klopp wants to persuade Werner to commit to a move to the club ahead of the next transfer window when he meets him.

But until the coronavirus travel bans are lifted, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will have to wait to speak to the forward.

According to reports, The 24-year-old reportedly has a £51milllion release clause in his current deal.

Liverpool have been touted as the frontrunners for his signing for some time, but Jamie Carragher believes the transfer will have to be delayed due to the ongoing crisis.

‘It looked nailed on before the situation we’re in now so it may affect transfers this summer,’ Carragher said.
