Chelsea could finally make the decision to sack Frank Lampard as manager should the club suffer a defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday night, according to talkSPORT.
While things are currently going well for Brendan Rodgers – Saturday’s win over Southampton saw Leicester end the weekend only two points off top spot in the Premier League.
Chelsea are now in seventh position after 18 games, and while they beat Fulham in their last match, they had won just one of their six Premier League matches before facing the club.
And it’s fair to say the performance against Fulham was hardly eye-catching, either, with Leicester looking to take advantage of the Blues’ poor form and out-of-sorts showings when Lampard takes his side to the King Power.
The pressure has mounted on Lampard over the past few weeks with Chelsea’s ongoing poor form, and he is one of the favourites to lose his job in the Premier League.
But Lampard could be sacked today, according to journalist Simon Johnson who covers Chelsea for Athens Athletic.
“There already are (question marks over his future),” said Johnson on the Sports Bar, with host Andy Goldstein also asking whether Rodgers could replace Lampard at the club.

“He’s definitely valued as a coach,” replied Johnson, “and who wouldn’t value him as a coach because of the jobs he’s done at Leicester and Celtic.
“And he made an impression when he was in charge of the [Chelsea] youth and reserve team. “But there are a lot of things Brendan has said and done over the years which did not go down too well with the hierarchy.
“I think if Chelsea are going to appoint another manager they might be looking elsewhere. “But he’d definitely be lower down on the list.”
Desiring a straight answer on Lampard’s future, Goldstein asked his next question: ‘If Leicester beat Chelsea, could he get the sack tonight?’ “Yes,” was Simon Johnson’s reply.
