Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes has seemingly confirmed he is heading to Chelsea this window.
Maurizio Sarri admits Chelsea need to make at least two more signings this January and reports claim both Paredes and Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella are on their way to Stamford Bridge.
Both are being viewed as long-term replacements for Cesc Fabregas after the Spaniard completed a transfer to Monaco this week.
Zenit value Paredes at around €35million (£31.m) and it appears Chelsea are on the verge of signing the Argentine.
The midfielder retweeted a ‘Welcome to Chelsea’ compilation video and the move is as good as done for some supporters.
Sarri refused to be drawn into speculation about specific players in his latest press conference, but did concede his squad would need a replacement for Fabregas.
‘If Cesc wants to go then we need a replacement,’ the Italian said.
‘I don’t know the situation of Loftus-Cheek, if it is serious. Without Cesc we are only five, we need a replacement.’
Paredes would be the second player to join Chelsea this window after Christian Pulisic completed a £58m move to Stamford Bridge this month.
The United States international has been loaned back to Borussia Dortmund and will join up with his Chelsea at the end of the season.
