The Red Devils defied expectations to secure a 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday. After the full-time whistle, Ruben Amorim was disappointed with the draw, as United came so close to winning.

Amorim was optimistic about United’s chances on Sunday, and the team’s confident display proved his positivity right.
Moments after Amad’s equalizer, Amorim brought on £52m summer signing Leny Yoro to replace Matthijs de Ligt, which turned out to be a brilliant decision.
Yoro was introduced with the match tied at 2-2, and both teams pushing for a winner. He was thrown into the deep end but did not sink.
In the 89th minute, Liverpool launched a dangerous attack, but Yoro’s brilliant tackle on Darwin Nunez inside the box stopped them.
Had he mistimed it, Yoro would have conceded a penalty and handed Liverpool a huge chance to win. However, his challenge was perfectly timed, marking his true introduction to the Premier League.
Speaking on BBC Match of the Day, pundit Shay Given praised Yoro for covering the entire pitch before making his challenge.
Given said: “Yoro came on with 10 minutes to go, he swapped with De Ligt. Look at this for desire from the young man, look at this for a sprint.
“I know he’s only just come on, he’s going to be fresh. But at the same time, his timing is absolutely spot on. It’s an unbelievable tackle.”
Yoro faced a challenging start in Manchester after a pre-season injury ruled him out for the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
Upon his return, Amorim managed him excellently, and Yoro seems well-fitted for the 3-4-3 formation.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Amorim and his staff are “very happy” with Yoro, considering him one of the few “untouchables” in the squad.
It’s evident why Amorim is a big supporter. Yoro’s full-pitch coverage on Sunday, culminating in his challenge on Nunez in the box, showcased the energy and defensive effort Amorim desires.
Amorim wants United to “run like mad dogs,” and Yoro exemplified this after coming off the bench at Anfield.
Following another strong performance, Yoro is likely to be pushing for a starting spot against Arsenal this Sunday.
