Leny Yoro speaks out as Man Utd see transfer offer accepted

Lille defender Leny Yoro has refuted social media claims that he is disinterested in transferring to Manchester United.

At 18, the center-back has become one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents, with United intensifying their efforts to secure him for Old Trafford.

On Tuesday, the Premier League team had a £42 million bid accepted by Lille, as United aims to acquire at least two new center-halves this summer.

Despite this, it has been widely believed that Yoro prefers a move to Real Madrid. The Spanish champions are eager to sign the young defender this summer, with recent reports in French and Spanish media suggesting his desire to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Real Madrid has not yet matched Lille’s asking price, with their initial offer being less than half of United’s at around £17 million.

Lille is reportedly urging Yoro towards United due to the higher offer, but the final decision will be up to the player.

On Tuesday night, an X account pretending to be Yoro tweeted in reaction to the United news: “I don’t want you Manchester United. Leave me alone.”

In response, Yoro tweeted from his official account: “Fake account. You guys are psycho. Signal [report] this account.”

United is targeting three center-halves this summer to revamp their defensive lineup ahead of the new season.

The club is in discussions with Bayern Munich regarding a move for Matthijs de Ligt, who is reportedly interested in reuniting with his former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag in Manchester. United believes they can secure this deal for around £40 million.

United is also interested in Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, having had two offers rejected for the 22-year-old.

Their second bid, approximately £45 million with £5 million in add-ons, was declined on Monday, with Everton holding out for £70 million.

United is expected to return with a third offer, having already agreed on personal terms with Branthwaite.
