‘Angry’ Jesse Lingard feels ‘disrespected’ by Man Utd & wants to join rivals

Jesse Lingard is ‘angry’ at Manchester United for delaying his loan move to Newcastle and feels his boyhood club are ‘disrespecting’ him by not approving his move to St James’ Park.

Newcastle have reportedly made a £6m loan offer to sign Lingard for the remainder of the campaign, but United are yet to respond as they weigh up loaning out another first-team player after Anthony Martial’s move to Sevilla.

Magpies manager Eddie Howe is targeting Lingard with his Newcastle team just 18th in the Premier League, three points off the foot of the table and one point from safety.

While Lingard has dropped down the pecking order at United, starting just two games in all competitions this season, he flourished while on loan at West Ham last campaign and Newcastle will hope for similar results if they sign him before the January window closes.

Lingard has been at United for more than two decades but is keen to move to Newcastle in order to revive his career and get back into contention for the England national team.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Lingard is ‘increasingly angered and exasperated’ at his treatment by United, who have blocked him from joining West Ham or Tottenham on loan as they are both seen as top-four rivals.

With less than a week to run of the January window, Newcastle may pull the plug on a deal for Lingard if they do not receive hope from United in the next 48 hours.

The 29-year-old is into the last six months of his current at Old Trafford and discussions over a new deal broke down last year.

The England international is pushing for a move away from the Red devils as Martial has all but secured a loan deal with La Liga side Sevilla.

Martial arrived in Spain on Tuesday to undergo a medical ahead of his six-month move to the club, who are currently second in the table, four points behind La Liga giants Real Madrid.
