Despite this success, much of the attention on Liverpool has centered around contract negotiations with key players Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom could depart on free transfers in the summer.

However, these three aren’t the only stars Liverpool wants to re-sign. According to a report, another major player has turned down the club’s initial contract offer.

As reported by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool might lose winger Luis Diaz soon, as he has rejected an offer to extend his current contract.

Diaz is currently under contract with Liverpool until the summer of 2027, but the club is eager to extend his deal to avoid a situation similar to those with Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold.

However, the 27-year-old is reportedly unhappy with the first offer, arguing it does not reflect his importance to the team or his contributions since joining Liverpool from Porto in January 2022.

If Diaz becomes available, the Spanish outlet reports that La Liga giants Barcelona would be interested in signing him to strengthen the left side of their attack.

Nonetheless, Liverpool is likely keen to retain the talented 27-year-old, who is having his best season with the club so far.

Diaz has scored 12 goals in 25 appearances for Liverpool this season, already matching his previous record goal tally for the club set last season in 51 appearances.

Therefore, it seems probable that Liverpool will continue negotiations with Diaz to secure his future at the club.
