Liverpool’s Joe Gomez is “linked” with Newcastle United. Reports indicate that Newcastle United and Chelsea are among the clubs interested in acquiring the England international from Liverpool.
Gomez has been plagued by injuries in recent years, yet he played a significant role for Liverpool last season. His “versatility” was valuable as he often stepped in at left-back.

Despite his contributions, the 27-year-old has been strongly “linked” with a move away during this transfer window.
Earlier this summer, there were suggestions he might be involved in a swap deal with Newcastle United for Anthony Gordon. A medical examination was even scheduled to finalize the deal before it ultimately “fell through.”
After the deal collapsed, it was expected that Gomez would remain with Liverpool, but he was absent from their squad for the match against Ipswich Town on Saturday, as he is “exploring” his transfer “options.”
According to a report from Football Insider, Gomez has decided “to leave,” and Liverpool is prepared to “cash in” on him this summer.
The report states that “he’s informed the club he wants to leave if their asking price is met.”
“He did not travel with Liverpool for their opening Premier League game against Ipswich Town as he explores his options before the transfer window closes.”
“There is strong interest in Gomez from Aston Villa at the moment, while Newcastle and Fulham have previously monitored him.”
“The Reds value the England international at £40-45million, and a bid around that fee will be enough to seal a deal.”
One of Newcastle’s main objectives is to sign a new centre-back. After failing to secure Gomez earlier this summer, Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi became their top target, and they have had four bids rejected for him.
Newcastle has yet to meet Palace’s reported £65m asking price, and there are suggestions they may consider cheaper alternatives, as they also need to sign a new right winger this month.
A report from The Daily Mail claims that Newcastle is “monitoring” Gomez, but they face competition from other Premier League rivals.
“Newcastle is aware that Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is exploring options after missing the Reds’ 2-0 win over Ipswich on Saturday.”
“The 27-year-old, who wants more regular starting opportunities in his preferred centre-back position, was not included in Arne Slot’s first Premier League matchday squad at Portman Road this weekend.”
“Mail Sport understands that Newcastle is now monitoring Gomez ahead of the summer transfer deadline, eager to strengthen Eddie Howe’s back line following a leaky Premier League campaign last season.”
“The Magpies made a fourth bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi ahead of their home clash with Southampton on Saturday, improving their offer to close in on the Eagles’ £65million valuation. It is understood the offer, which has been rejected by Palace, would have surpassed the £60m fee paid for club record signing Alexander Isak.”
“Aston Villa, Fulham, Chelsea, and foreign clubs have also shown interest in the England international, who has 15 caps at international level and was included in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man Euro 2024 squad.”
