Romelu Lukaku’s agent confirms he will leave Chelsea & return to Serie A

Romelu Lukaku’s agent has confirmed his client will definitely return to Serie A, just few months after he left Italy to join Chelsea.

The Belgium international became Chelsea’s record signing earlier this year, leaving Inter Milan in a deal worth up to £97.5m.

Lukaku has scored just five goals in his first 15 matches back at Stamford Bridge and has recently spent a period of time on the sidelines with injury.

The Belgian attacker started for the first time since October against Zenit in midweek, scoring during the thrilling 3-3 Champions League draw.

The 28-year-old’s agent Federico Pastorello has now claimed he already has his eyes set on a move back to the Italian top-flight.

“One day we will see Lukaku back in Serie A,” Pastorello told Tuttomercato. “Lukaku loves Italy. But right now it’s up to Chelsea to take advantage of Romelu’s qualities.”

Lukaku scored 47 times in just 72 Serie A games during his two years with Inter Milan, ending his time in the country by winning the title in 2021.

“When I went to Italy, it’s where, under the guidance of Antonio Conte, I learnt what it took to go and break that barrier,” Lukaku told Sky Sports in August, “When we did win [the Serie A title] last year, you could see the emotions in my face.

“For me, it was ten years of hard work, with a lot of ups and downs, but in the end, it was good. Coming into my prime years, I know myself and I know what it takes. I know how to be a leader and what it takes to help my team.

“Technically, I have improved because before, back to goal was not really my thing, I didn’t like it, I didn’t enjoy it. I’m more of a guy that likes to run in behind, find tight spaces and take players on.

“But as soon as I started getting better with my back-to-goal play, it was better for me because I could score more goals but I could also create more for my team-mates, so my assists went up and I became a more complete player.”

But Chelsea supporters shouldn’t be panicking too much, with a contract that doesn’t expire until 2026, Lukaku has a burning desire to become a Stamford Bridge legend, similar to his idol Didier Drogba.

He continued: “It would mean the world to me. I said I wanted to do this as a child and now I’m here, I’m going to the training ground every day with the same determination to help my team win games. That’s the only thing that matters.”
