What Romelu Lukaku has done ahead of Chelsea clash vs Arsenal

Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he has watched a couple of Chelsea’s previous matches ahead of his second possible debut for the club against Arsenal.

The Belgium international became Chelsea’s record signing this summer as he secured a £97.5m transfer move from Inter Milan.

With the blues having set their sights on a striker in January, the former Manchester United star certainly ticks all of the boxes, with there now being plenty of anticipation ahead of his first game as a Blue.

Lukaku has suggested that he has been doing extra work off the training field in order to strike-up a relationship with his new teammates as soon as possible.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of this weekend’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates, he said: “Tactically, I see the game totally different.

“I’m really interested in the movements some players make. So for the last week, I’ve been watching the last seven or eight games of the team and try to know what the movements and what the coach is trying to expect from us in every game, so when I come in, I can just move.”

Lukaku will certainly hope that the extra work will help him continue his outstanding record when turning out for a new team for the first time.

Throughout his career, the Chelsea star has scored on his debut for four of the six teams he has represented – a statistic which could be a good omen ahead of a trip to the Emirates.

Lukaku has only scored on just three occasions against the Gunners in 17 career matches, the last of those coming in a 3-1 reverse during the 2016/17 campaign when he was still an Everton player.
