Romelu Lukaku is demanding more “clarity” from Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel due to uncertainty over his role in the club’s attack.
The Belgium international scored in the Premier League for the first time since September as Chelsea came from behind to win 3-1 at Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
It marked Lukaku’s sixth goal in 17 matches since his £97m return to Stamford Bridge this summer, with an ankle injury and coronavirus limiting his impact since the transfer.
The Belgian attackervwas only fit enough to make the bench against Villa having missed the disappointing draws with Everton and Wolves due to Covid-19.
Lukaku’s half-time introduction against Steven Gerrard’s team changed the game and he scored the all important goal in the 56th minute before winning an added-time penalty for Jorginho to score.
It was a performance which showed the Blues what they have been missing in recent games, but the former Manchester United frontman concedes he is not content with his position under Tuchel.
“Me and the coach, we had a couple of conversations about whatever he wanted from me. Obviously I told him I’m multidimensional,” Lukaku told ESPN Brasil.
“It’s just about having a bit of clarity about how he wants to use me. And then whatever he wants from me, I can do whatever aspects he wants for the game.
“I can run in behind, I can press, I can hold the ball up. So I think throughout the years these are qualities I added to my game.
“So I just wanted an opportunity, I got it today, I’m happy that I helped the team, now I just want to move forward.”
Lukaku has not started any Premier League match in two-and-a-half months with Tuchel frequently using Christian Pulisic as the centre-forward in his absence.
