Maguire makes social media blunder about Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has made a social media blunder in which he appeared to like a post about Cristiano Ronaldo being unhappy at the club.

Maguire angered United supporters by hitting like on an Instagram post which claimed Ronaldo was upset due to the fact he had to take a 25 per cent pay cut after they failed to qualify for the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League.

At first, it was unclear if Maguire had liked the post because he had to take the pay cut himself or if he was poking fun at his team-mate who would be pocketing £360k a week even if his wages were reduced to 75 per cent.

BUT, it is understood that Maguire, who struggled at Old Trafford last campaign, mistakenly liked the post in error.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, has asked United to consider offers for him this summer window as he looks to leave with several teams interested in him.

Ronaldo returned to United last August and he was supposed to help the club mount a title challenge – but despite 24 goals in all competitions – they collapsed to a sixth-place finish.

The Portuguese star has been linked with Premier League rivals Chelsea as well as German champions Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish giants Barcelona.

‘The only important factor with the Ronaldo situation is that it’s dealt with decisively and quickly,’ former United defender and pundit Gary Neville said.

‘This can’t be a saga that takes the focus away from the Erik ten Hag bedding in period for the next two months.’”
