Salah, 32, received widespread acclaim for his outstanding performance, setting six new records during the match against Man City.
Arne Slot’s team left the Etihad with three points after the 2-0 triumph, propelling them 11 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal in the Premier League standings.
“It is incredible [winning at Man City],” Salah told Sky Sports after the match.
“It is a very hard place to come and play here. They are a tough team, and they have an incredible manager. I am glad in the end we won the game. It is special. Especially when you are in the title race, it is incredible.
“Hopefully, we keep calm because sometimes the pressure gets to us. We try to win each game.”
Even with Salah’s respectful remarks about City, the Premier League champions couldn’t resist highlighting their past achievements, much to the amusement of the Sky Sports broadcast team.
The panel, which included Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Micah Richards, Daniel Sturridge, and presenter Dave Jones, found the banter entertaining.
“Manchester City are just reminding everyone here, if you just look behind you on the little screen there,” said Jones before the rest of the panel turned their heads towards the electronic screen inside the Etihad.
The group found the display quite entertaining. On the screen, the phrase ‘Champions 4 In-A-Row’ was prominently shown, along with the years marking City’s last four Premier League title wins.
Fans swiftly shared their opinions on social media.
One said: “Thanks for the reminder. We all kinda forgot about it. Lmao not relevant enough.”
Another added: “Manchester City are so petty man. One Champions League in their existence.”
While a third commented: “You can’t compete with such a team; though credit to Manchester City for their achievements in the past decade.”
