Man City finally make decision as Juventus demand £21m for Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester City have rejected the opportunity to sign Cristiano Ronaldo as they do not want to pay Juventus’ £21m asking price, according to reports.

Ronaldo is pushing to leave the Italian Serie A before the transfer deadline but his options are currently limited.

Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is in Manchester as he also represents Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva, who is looking to leave the Etihad.

According to L’Equipe, Mendes is attempting to engineer a swap deal which would see Silva move to Juventus, while Ronaldo heads in the opposite direction to Man City.

Juventus are also holding out for a £21m fee for Ronaldo but reports in Italy are claiming that City have no interest in meeting the player’s valuation.

The Times also claims that City are reluctant to make Ronaldo one of their highest earners given his current £510,000-per-week contract at Juventus. Instead, they remain committed to their push to sign Harry Kane before Tuesday’s deadline.

But, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is standing firm over Kane’s availability and is believed to now be unwilling to sell the England skipper, even if his £150million asking price is met.

Kane has made it clear that he wants to leave Tottenham this summer and City is his preferred destination. But Spurs have the upper hand in negotiations as the player has three years left on his current contract.
