Man Utd confident of agreeing deal with Dortmund to sign Jadon Sancho this summer

Manchester United are ready to spend £80 million on Jadon Sancho and are ‘increasingly confident’ of signing the Borussia Dortmund star, according to reports.

The Red devils failed with their attempt to land Sancho last summer window as Dortmund demanded a transfer fee well in excess of £100m for the England winger.

But according to The Athletic, Manchester United have been ‘given encouragement’ that the Bundesliga side will not demand the same fee as they were holding out for last summer.

The report claims that the Premier League club have indicated that they are willing to offer £80m for Sancho, a figure which is believed to be ‘amenable’ to Dortmund.

However, the German club are looking for an additional £20m in add-ons in order to reach a final agreement over the transfer.

United want to quickly complete a deal for Sancho as they are aware the 21-year-old attacker could increase his value if he impresses with England at the Euros this summer.

While speaking last month, Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc explained that the club have a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ with Sancho which will allow him to leave this summer transfer window.

‘We already had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions,’ Zorc told ARD.

‘He’s been with us for a couple of years. However, this agreement does not exist with Erling [Haaland].’

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also interested in recruiting a new central defender and a right-back to provide tight competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
