Manchester United have finally reached an agreement to sell Jadon Sancho, who unexpectedly became a transfer target for Chelsea, their Premier League rivals.
United originally paid £73 million to acquire Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, but his performances at Old Trafford were disappointing.
After two lackluster seasons and a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho was loaned back to Dortmund last season, where he appeared to regain his form, even participating in the Champions League final in June.
Last month, Ten Hag stated that he had set aside his differences with Sancho and was prepared to welcome the 24-year-old back into the first-team squad for the 2024-25 season….

Despite his struggles at Manchester United, Sancho caught the attention of Chelsea, who were interested in a swap deal involving Raheem Sterling, who has been deemed unnecessary by new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
Sterling was open to the idea of joining Manchester United, which would have facilitated Chelsea’s pursuit of Sancho. However, Manchester United have now reached an agreement with a different club.
According to RMC Sport, United agreed to a deal with Serie A powerhouse Juventus on Wednesday. Sancho will initially join Juventus on loan this season, with a permanent move set for next summer.
Sancho will play under Thiago Motta at Juventus, who currently sit at the top of Serie A after two games. Juventus has been interested in Sancho for a long time.
Chelsea fans were surprised by the prospect of Sancho moving to Stamford Bridge, but former player John Obi Mikel supported the idea.
Obi Mikel – who won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League in his spell at Chelsea – said on his podcast: ‘If we can get him through the door at Chelsea, I’d be very, very happy.
‘He’s a fantastic player. I think on that side of the pitch, we’re very strong. But listen, if we can get a player like Jadon, of course, you’d be happy to have him. If that happens, I’d be very happy.’
Ten Hag, meanwhile, said Sancho would have to ‘compete’ for his place in the side after omitting him from his squad to face Brighton on Saturday.
Asked why Sancho did not make the bench, he told TNT Sports before the match: ‘He’s here [at the stadium], but I had a choice to make.
‘We had some issues, we need a full squad. He’s one of them. He has to compete in his position.
‘Game-by-game we will have a look. We need two players in every position because it is a long season.’
