According to Brazilian media, Manchester United have agreed to loan Casemiro to Flamengo.

The veteran midfielder’s importance at Man Utd has significantly decreased since Ruben Amorim’s arrival in November.

Casemiro was already struggling with the pace of the Premier League before Amorim’s appointment, and now he has become a forgotten figure at Old Trafford.

FootballTransfers previously reported that Amorim was eager to offload Casemiro in January to free up funds for a younger and more dynamic replacement, and the failure to do so left him frustrated.

Although the English transfer window has been closed for a week, Man Utd could still offload Casemiro, as clubs in other countries can still conduct transfers.

In Casemiro’s native Brazil, for instance, the transfer window remains open until February 28, and journalist Jorge Nicola suggests that a move back home could be on the horizon for the 32-year-old.

Flamengo are seeking a midfielder and are reportedly close to agreeing on a pre-contract with Arsenal star Jorginho for the summer. Initially, they wanted to sign him this winter, but Arsenal refused to consider an early sale.

As a result, Flamengo are looking for a temporary solution until the next window, and Casemiro has emerged as a potential candidate, albeit a “very risky” one.

Nicola claims that Man Utd and Flamengo have agreed on a loan deal, but Flamengo has yet to make a final decision on whether to proceed.

“I can assure you that Flamengo investigated the player’s situation in the last few days,” he said in quotes relayed by Bolavip. The English club agree to loan him and help with part of his salary. [Flamengo coach] Filipe Luis would love to count on Casemiro.

“Flamengo understand that, given all the figures, it is a very risky business. Even though United are willing to help with most of the salary, there would still be a very high amount to be paid.”
