As expected, United remain highly active in the market, seeking reinforcements after enduring their worst Premier League campaign since the competition’s inception.
The club has already secured the signing of former Wolves striker Matheus Cunha and remains in discussions with multiple teams regarding further additions.
However, their pursuit of a top goalkeeping target has been put on hold due to UEFA’s strict rules.
Following an inconsistent season in goal, Andre Onana’s position in Ruben Amorim’s squad has come under scrutiny. The Cameroonian managed only 11 clean sheets in 50 appearances, conceding 65 goals across all competitions.
Reports indicate that United are considering bringing in a new goalkeeper, with sources suggesting they have set their sights on OGC Nice’s Marcin Bulka.
Despite their interest, United will have to delay any move for Bulka until the January transfer window due to UEFA regulations preventing them from signing players from Nice until September.
This restriction stems from the fact that both Manchester United and Nice are owned by Ineos. UEFA’s financial control body introduced rules last year aimed at regulating multi-club ownership, which has directly impacted United’s transfer plans.
Although the two teams were allowed to participate in this season’s Europa League, a UEFA statement said that the two clubs, “will not transfer players to each other, whether permanently or on loan, directly or indirectly, from July 2024 until September 2025, with the exception of pre-existing transfer agreements that had been entered into before the opening of the CFCB proceedings.”
Although this doesn’t rule out the chances of Bulka coming to Old Trafford in the future, it means that it will not happen this summer.
