Man Utd coaching staff ‘irritated’ by Solskjaer’s training ground decision

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ‘irritating’ members of his Manchester United coaching staff by delegating the most of his responsibilities elsewhere.

Solskjaer faces a huge battle to keep his job as United manager after Sunday’s 5-0 defeat against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Reports in Italy suggest United chiefs are already eyeing Antonio Conte as a possible replacement, making contact with the former Chelsea and Inter Milan head coach twice this week.

And if they learn of concerns over Solskjaer’s laid-back approach in training, club officials may be tempted to pull the trigger and sign Conte sooner rather than later.

According to the Irish Independent, certain United coaching staff are becoming frustrated by the amount of duties Solskjaer is delegating to other members of his staff.

The Norwegian prefers to take more of a backseat and observe from the sidelines, often tasking first-team coaches Carrick and Kieran McKenna with delivering the major tactical briefings.

Carrick and McKenna are on hand to devise and conduct training sessions at Carrington, while Eric Ramsay is the person in charge of set-pieces.

And the three men are very early into their careers as coaches, meaning Solskjaer is entrusting an inexperienced trio with the majority of United’s preparations in training while adopting a more hands-off approach himself.

This is said to have irritated some members of the coaching staff, who believe they are being left alone to face the accusation of overseeing one of the most under-coached and poorly-drilled teams in the Premier League this campaign.

The Red devils are without a win in their last four Premier League games and have only claimed four wins out of nine in the 2021/22 season, conceding 15 goals already.
