Despite investing over £200m in the previous window, United have struggled at the start of the season. With three defeats in their first six league matches, manager Ruben Amorim is facing growing pressure as he nears his one-year mark at the club. ..Continue Reading
While uncertainty surrounds Amorim’s position, United have moved swiftly to secure a top young talent from South America. The announcement came from transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
‘We played this game like Brentford wants to’ – Amorim
He wrote: “Manchester United have now sealed and signed deal to bring in 17 year old Colombian talent Cristian Orozco. $1m transfer fee from Fortaleza in deal valid from summer 2026.
“MUFC lawyers approved all the contracts, deal coordinated by lead scout Antonaccio. Here we go.”
Orozco will officially join next summer when he turns 18 and becomes eligible to complete his move to England.
The teenager plays as a defensive midfielder for Fortaleza FC in Colombia, having transferred there earlier this year from Rojo FC.
He captains Colombia’s under-17 national team and has earned nine caps at that level. His performances at the South American U17 Championship, where Colombia reached the final before losing to Brazil on penalties, caught the attention of scouts.
Though not physically dominant at 5 foot 8 (1.78m and 72kg), Orozco has been praised for his technical skills and composure on the ball.
@RisingStarXI on X described him as a player with “maturity well beyond his years.”
They noted his ability to disrupt opposition play and maintain control under pressure, often shifting the pace of the match.
This acquisition reflects INEOS’ continued strategy of targeting top youth prospects both locally and internationally.
In 2024, United signed two promising players from Arsenal—Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven—both of whom have already made appearances for the senior squad.
Internationally, United also added Malian midfielder Sekou Kone in 2024, following his standout showing at the U-17 World Cup.
Kone is currently recovering after sustaining a serious head injury in August during a youth team fixture in the National League Cup at Tamworth.
