Man Utd ‘contact Chelsea star’ as Bryan Mbeumo transfer plans become clear

Manchester United have reportedly opened discussions with Chelsea regarding a potential move for forward Christopher Nkunku.

The French attacker, who is under contract until 2029, has struggled for consistent minutes under Enzo Maresca and is now being linked with a summer exit. ..Continue Reading

Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 for £52 million, but injuries and inconsistent form have limited his impact, with just 17 goals in 57 appearances.

The recent arrival of Liam Delap has pushed him further down the attacking hierarchy, and he’s been used as a substitute in both of Chelsea’s Club World Cup matches so far.

United have already made a move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, though their £55 million offer was rejected. A revised bid is expected soon.

Reports suggest that United’s interest in Nkunku won’t interfere with their pursuit of Mbeumo, as manager Ruben Amorim is aiming to bring in two new forwards to strengthen his squad.

While no formal offer has been made for Nkunku yet, Chelsea are unlikely to accept a discounted fee given the length of his current deal.

The Frenchman has also attracted attention from Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, which Chelsea may use to their advantage in negotiations.

Should United land both Mbeumo and Nkunku, the combined outlay could exceed £100 million—though this may be balanced by expected player departures.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are both expected to leave after returning from loan spells, while Alejandro Garnacho is also likely to be sold following a recent social media controversy.

Any potential deal for Nkunku may not be finalized until next month, as Chelsea remain focused on their Club World Cup campaign and must beat ES Tunis to stay in the competition after a 3-1 defeat to Flamengo.
