It has been a challenging campaign for the club, with both Erik ten Hag and current head coach Ruben Amorim struggling to find success at Old Trafford. ..Continue Reading
The Red Devils currently sit 15th in the Premier League, having won just ten of their 35 matches while suffering 16 defeats. Their latest setback came in a 4-3 loss away to Brentford on Sunday.
Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 system does not seem to align well with United’s current squad, suggesting that several players could be on the move while new signings are expected in the summer.
The Portuguese manager added defensive prospects Ayden Heaven, 18, and Patrick Dorgu, 20, during the winter transfer window but requires more experienced and high-quality players to build a competitive squad next season.
Among those facing an uncertain future is captain Bruno Fernandes. The 30-year-old has been a standout performer despite the team’s struggles this term.
Reports from Saudi journalist Abdullah Al-Hunayan indicate that Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal has engaged in discussions with Fernandes’ representatives regarding a possible transfer ahead of the Club World Cup in June.
However, Amorim dismissed speculation about an exit back in March, reaffirming his desire to keep Fernandes at the club, stating, “Bruno is here because we want to win the Premier League again.”
According to the Manchester Evening News, several players from both the senior and academy squads are set to depart this summer, including Jack Kingdon, Sam Murray, and James Nolan.
Nolan, 19, Murray, 20, and Kingdon, 19, will be out of contract at the end of the season and have not been offered extensions.
Kingdon was close to joining INEOS-owned Swiss club Lausanne earlier this season but instead moved on loan to National League side Rochdale.
Nolan spent last summer on loan at Scottish club Inverness Caledonian Thistle, where he gained valuable playing time in Scottish League One, making 33 appearances.
Meanwhile, left-back Murray has continued his development with United’s Under-21 squad, recently captaining the side and scoring in the PL2 play-offs against West Ham on Monday.
