In what will surely come as a disappointment to viral United fan Frank Ilett, the Red Devils failed to secure victory for the fourth consecutive match on Saturday afternoon, finishing with a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. ..Continue Reading
After taking the lead shortly before the break through a goal from Casemiro, the visitors were unable to maintain their advantage, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona both finding the net for Forest in the second half.
Although Amad managed to grab an equaliser with a brilliant strike, the outcome will undoubtedly spark renewed scrutiny of Amorim’s management, as many supporters continue to hold him responsible for the result and his selection choices.
However, there is one player in particular that fans have made it clear should be dropped for the upcoming clash with Tottenham Hotspur after his display on Saturday afternoon.
Even though United were chasing an equaliser later in the match, Amorim’s first substitution saw right-back Diogo Dalot withdrawn and Patrick Dorgu brought on in his place.
Supporters were quick to react on social media, criticising Dalot throughout the game and demanding that he be left out of the squad for next weekend’s fixture.
Reacting to his performance, one fan wrote on X: “Dalot, the sooner you leave my club the better my life will get.”
Another commented: “Dalot costs us over and over and over again. Why does Amorim keep playing him?”
One joked: “Dalot is that footballer where, if you watch just a tiny clip of him, you might think he is terrible, but after watching him for the full 90 minutes, you realise you’re absolutely right.”
And another added: “Dalot is so frustrating to watch isn’t the key aspect of a defender is to get physical and block out any crosses?? Bro just hops and ball watches until the ball goes into the box. Embarrassing defending.”
The criticism of Dalot seems understandable, as the Portuguese full-back appeared to be at fault for Savona’s goal, which forced United to battle for a draw.
