The Blues, who came into the game undefeated, were down to 10 men within the opening five minutes after Robert Sanchez committed a foul on Bryan Mbeumo.
United capitalized by going 2-0 ahead with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.
Just before the interval, Casemiro was shown a red card after receiving two yellow cards.
In the second half, Chelsea increased the pressure, and Trevoh Chalobah pulled one back in the 80th minute to make it 2-1.
In the end, Ruben Amorim’s side managed to hold on for an important win, moving them up to 10th in the Premier League standings.
After full-time, Amad shared a photo on social media featuring himself and Garnacho, who made a move from Old Trafford to Stamford Bridge during the summer window.

The two players were seen posing with each other’s jerseys.
Fans responded online with mixed opinions. One supporter said: “We should stop doing this, there’s no friends before and after the game. We shouldn’t be smiling and taking pictures.”
Another wrote: “Not a good look Amad…”
A third reaction was: “Nice! Tell Chelsea to take him next.”
Someone else chimed in: “Not a good look for Amad to say the least.”
Meanwhile, another user defended the players, commenting: “You lot need to let it go. It’s not that deep they’re close friends.”
By Sunday morning, it appeared that Amad had taken down the story featuring Garnacho and also cleared all posts from his Instagram account.
Despite trailing in the game, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca chose not to bring on Garnacho, instead handing Tyrique George a chance ahead of the Argentine winger.
When asked post-match about his decision not to introduce Garnacho, Maresca explained: “Garnacho was ready to go on, but then Wes [Fofana] asked for the change, because he was tired after a long time. So we changed and we decided to go for Malo Gusto, the idea [had been] to give Garnacho minutes.”
