Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring from the spot, but Iliman Ndiaye levelled for Everton right before halftime.

Mason Mount reclaimed United’s advantage on 69 minutes after coming off the bench, only for Ayden Heaven’s own goal to cancel it out six minutes later.

United dominated possession and recorded six shots on target over the full 90, maintaining an unbeaten run across four summer fixtures.

That result was enough to crown them Summer Series champions, having outperformed Bournemouth, West Ham, and Everton on points.

The trophy may offer a small morale boost, but the matches were primarily used to test formations, strategies, and player partnerships ahead of the 2025/26 season.

These games also provided squad members a chance to stake their claim for a spot in Amorim’s starting XI.

United’s pre-season opponents so far—Leeds, Bournemouth, Everton, and West Ham—are all set to compete in the league this season.

One player’s display during the Everton clash drew heavy criticism from fans.

Manuel Ugarte began the game in midfield and stayed on until the 72nd minute before Casemiro stepped in.

However, supporters were left unimpressed by his showing.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Ugarte hype lasted one game. Get me that new DM asap.”

A second added: “This Manuel Ugarte performance, granted it’s pre-season, is what you show young midfielders exactly what not to do.”

A third stated: “Add Ugarte to the bomb squad.”

While another claimed: “As far as pre-season goes, this Ugarte performance is the worst in its history.”

And a fifth said: “I don’t know who needs to hear this but Ugarte can’t be starting games for us next season.”

Man United face Fiorentina at Old Trafford in their last pre-season friendly of the summer on Sunday, before hosting Arsenal in their opening Premier League game a week later.
