Manchester United supporters are calling for the immediate exclusion of two players following their team’s emphatic 3-0 loss to Manchester City.
It was another difficult outing for Ruben Amorim’s squad, as Erling Haaland netted twice—once before and once after the break—after Phil Foden opened the scoring with a well-placed header. ..Continue Reading
United struggled to create meaningful chances, and a costly error from Luke Shaw, whose misplaced pass gifted Haaland a clear run to goal, epitomized their lackluster display.
A brief spark came in the second half when Bryan Mbeumo forced a brilliant save from City’s new goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Amorim attempted to shift the momentum with tactical changes, but they only served to further destabilize the team’s structure.
In the final stretch, City repeatedly carved open United’s defense and could have inflicted more damage had their finishing been sharper—though Patrick Dorgu did manage a late header that went narrowly wide.
The reaction from United fans was swift and unforgiving, with two players singled out for particularly poor performances in what was a dismal showing at the Etihad.
One wrote: “Ugarte and Luke Shaw are an embarrassment.”
A second wrote: “Surely Amorim knows he can’t be starting Ugarte anymore.”
A third said: “Luke Shaw has been horrific. Not sure how he continues to start.”
While another added: “Luke Shaw is basically playing just because he’s left-footed. That’s the only reason.”
And before Mainoo was brought on – for Mazraoui – another wrote: “I’ve seen enough of Manuel Ugarte already. Get Mainoo on.”
It is now four points from four matches for United this campaign, who are only two places above last season’s Premier League finishing position of 15th.
They host Chelsea at Old Trafford next Saturday in what is sure to be a huge game for Amorim and his side.
