A move away from Old Trafford seems likely, and ahead of the January transfer window, reports suggest a swap deal is in the works.
According to Spanish reports via Football365, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has approved a swap deal involving Ansu Fati and Rashford.
Barca’s sporting director Deco is reportedly working on this deal, with Flick believing that Rashford could add versatility and effectiveness to Barcelona’s attack.
Fati has not impressed the German coach, and his inconsistent performances have raised doubts about his future.
United could be an ideal destination for Fati, who was on loan at Brighton last season, making 27 appearances across all competitions.
Barcelona reportedly sees it as feasible to finalize the deal before the January transfer window closes, and some at the club are already excited about the prospect of Rashford playing at Camp Nou.
Rashford has not played for United since his Europa League appearance against Viktoria Plzen earlier this month. In a recent interview, he revealed his career plans, which have been met with some questioning by Ruben Amorim.
“It is a hard situation,” Amorim told Sky Sports. “I understand that these players have a lot of people around them, making choices that are not the first idea from the player.
“I am always here to help Marcus as another player. I have to do what I have to do. They chose to do the interview as it is not just Marcus. I understand that.
“As a coach I focus on performance and the way you train. The rest, it is better for me and the club to deal with that when the time comes.
“At the moment I focus on improving Marcus and we need a talented guy like Marcus. I forget the interview now and see what I see on the pitch.”
