Man Utd hold talks to sign Monaco star this summer

Manchester United have made an approach to sign Monaco central defender Axel Disasi, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of top defenders in the French Ligue 1, while he was also part of France’s team which lost to Argentina in the World Cup final in December.

United, meanwhile, are expected to be in the market for a new defender this summer with Maguire’s future currently uncertain, while Bailly, who has spent the campaign on loan at Marseille, could also leave on a permanent deal.

According to FootMercato, the Red Devils’ recruitment team met with Disasi’s representatives this month to discuss a move to Old Trafford.

The report claims that Monaco would demand around €50 million for Disasi, who will have two years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 side this summer.

Speaking this season, Disasi made it clear that he is open to the idea of moving to the Premier League and responded to Paris Saint-Germain’s interest.

‘I like England, it’s a very exciting league. We’ll say it’s my favourite league,’ Disasi said.

‘It’s always nice to be linked to a club like PSG. I’m an ambitious person. PSG is a very ambitious club.

‘But I’m good at Monaco, we were at the end of the transfer window I have the confidence of the coach and the leaders. I felt good at Monaco and I still feel good there.

‘But there were contacts, it’s true. They intensified after the match against Paris [in August]. But I said it, I was good at Monaco. I feel that I am passing milestones and I wanted to continue.’
