Man Utd target Kieran Trippier ‘already house hunting’ ahead of £10m transfer

Manchester United have opened discussions with Atletico Madrid over the signing of Kieran Trippier and the defender has reportedly begun house hunting in the area.

United are looking to invest significantly this summer to close the gap to Premier League champions Manchester City and Solskjaer is keen to sign a new right winger and centre-back.

Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Villarreal’s Pau Torres are currently United’s top targets in those positions, but the Red devils are also looking for competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

According to The Athletic, negotiations with Atletico regarding Trippier have already begun and all parties are hopeful a deal can be done as soon as possible.

While their £80m move for Sancho will be a long process, the deal for Trippier is believed to be straightforward and the England star could cost as little as £10m – a bargain in today’s market.

Despite winning the La Liga title with Atletico, Trippier is keen to return to England and has already been looking at houses in Manchester.

The defender was formerly on the books of rivals Man City as a schoolboy, but the 30-year-old grew up as a United supporter and would jump at the chance to join the Red devils.

United tried to sign Tripper in January but pulled the plug on a deal when he was handed a 10-week ban by the FA for betting offences relating to his move to Atletico.

Trippier is one of the most creative full-backs in Europe, providing six assists in 28 league matches last campaign, and was also named in the Liga Team of the Season.

While Wan-Bissaka has frequently been criticised for his lack of end product and Solskjaer wants to add a more attack-orientated right-back to his team as cover and competition, with Trippier ticking all the boxes.
