Rashford, 27, along with Alejandro Garnacho, was omitted from United’s matchday squad by Ruben Amorim for the 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The United manager attributed his decision to “selection.” ..Continue Reading
“We try to evaluate everything, training performance, game performances, engagement with team-mates, push their team-mates up,” Amorim told Sky Sports ahead of kick-off.
“Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players. It is my selection. Simple.”
Following his exclusion from the squad, the England international has been rumored to be considering moves to several top European clubs, as well as a potential transfer to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.
Yesterday, Rashford broke his silence on the situation during an interview with journalist Henry Winter.
The 27-year-old expressed his disappointment at being left out and hinted that he is “ready for a new challenge and next steps.”
Should Rashford leave, United would need a replacement, possibly as soon as January.
The club could potentially sign PSG and France forward Randal Kolo Muani, with French outlet Le 10 Sport reporting that United showed interest in the player last month.
L’Equipe also mentioned that PSG has ‘cleared a January departure’ for the player, who has fallen out of favor with PSG coach Luis Enrique.
Kolo Muani, 26, joined PSG from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in a £76.4 million deal in the summer of 2023, but has not lived up to the high expectations, scoring just 11 goals in 54 appearances for the French champions.
However, Real Madrid star and international teammate Kylian Mbappe praised Kolo Muani after his impressive performance in France’s 4-0 victory against Holland in March 2023.
“He [Kolo Muani] is a striker who offers different game options to our team,” Mbappe said. “He is very complete and has an impressive volume of play.”
The PSG forward’s contract runs until June 2028, and Transfermarkt estimates his value at approximately €30 million (£24.7 million).
