Manchester United have determined Mason Mount’s future after his initial season with the team.
Mason Mount faced challenges during his debut season as a Manchester United player in 2023/24.
Joining the club in July 2023, Mount made only 14 Premier League appearances and scored a single goal.
Amidst recent rumors suggesting that Manchester United were contemplating selling the Englishman, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided clarity.
Posting on social media, Romano stated: “Manchester United are currently not planning to sell Mason Mount despite reports.
“Mount’s also only focused on Man United after unlucky first season and ready to do his best under Erik ten Hag this season.
“No plan to part ways.”
Before Romano’s update, Mount had been linked with three Premier League clubs as United reportedly looked to sell him along with Brazilians Antony and Casemiro.
Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United were reportedly interested in the midfielder, but it now seems that a transfer for him will not occur.
After demanding a fee of £60 million including add-ons, expectations were high for Mount at Old Trafford.
Mount joined United from Chelsea, another Premier League team, after spending six years at Stamford Bridge.
He won the Champions League with the London club and made 279 appearances, scoring 58 goals and providing 53 assists.
Unfortunately, a calf injury sidelined the 25-year-old for most of the 2023/24 season, but United fans are likely eager to see his performance in the upcoming season.
Before moving to Manchester United, Mount missed 40 matches for Chelsea or Derby County, where he was on loan for the 2018/19 season.
In comparison, the midfielder missed 27 games for United during the 2023/24 season.
However, the midfielder is confident that he will succeed with his new club in the coming seasons.
After his transfer to United was confirmed, Mount stated: “Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career. I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies.
“I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here.”
