Manchester United’s hierarchy have approved an £80m bid for Tottenham’s Harry Kane, according to reports.
Erik ten Hag is looking to improve his attack in the summer transfer window by signing a new forward.
Kane has been admired by the Red Devils board for several years but Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has scored 21 goals in Serie A this campaign, is also on the club’s radar.
But, the Daily Star claims that Ten Hag has made Kane his major target, while United’s CEO Richard Arnold has now given the green light for an £80m bid to be submitted.
The report claims that United are aiming to complete the deal as quickly as possible and will open negotiations with Tottenham before the campaign is over.
Ten Hag is also reported to believe that the signing of Kane this summer will make the club contenders for the Premier League title next term.
Kane scored in England’s 2-0 win over Ukraine on Sunday and speaking after the match, former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard said the Tottenham striker has reached a crossroads in his career.

‘He’s got a big decision to make career-wise,’ Gerrard said.
‘I’ve been there myself, where you’re thinking ‘is my team good enough to get me the medals? Am I going to get out of my career what I want to get?’.
‘It’s different for me. I knew winning one trophy more with Liverpool would have meant a lot more to me than being anywhere else.
‘He’s [Kane] got a big decision to make. I can’t give him any advice on that but I bet you every single day of his life now moving forward, it’s going to be on his mind.’
