Manchester United have outbid RB Leipzig and AC Milan for Independiente del Valle player Moises Caicedo, according to reports.
The Red devils are in advanced discussions to sign the 19-year-old midfielder, who has quickly emerged as one of the brightest young talents in South America.
Caicedo moved to Independiente del Valle at the age of 13 and has already established himself as a regular in the first-team after making his senior debut last October.
According to Ecuador newspaper Diario Extra, Manchester United are ‘well advanced’ in the race to bring Caicedo to Old Trafford after entering talks with Independiente del Valle.
The report claims that Caicedo has attracted huge interest from RB Leipzig and AC Milan, but United have made the best offer so far. And Independiente del Valle wants an initial £5.5m fee plus add-ons and a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
Speaking earlier this month, Independiente del Valle’s general manager, Santiago Morales, said that Caicedo is expected to leave the club next month.
‘We have received an offer from a European club for Moises Caicedo, we are negotiating the proposal,’ said Morales. ‘It is most likely that he will not be in our team in 2021 due to the proposal we’ve received, it is very difficult to keep him.’
