Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof, whose contracts expire at the end of the season, have found it difficult to secure regular playing time under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
The January transfer window represents United’s final opportunity to sell Eriksen and Lindelof before they can leave Old Trafford on free transfers in the summer.
‘Eriksen and Lindelof are available for [the] January market, but at the moment there’s still nothing concrete,’ Romano said. ‘For sure both are players who could be available in January.’
Eriksen, now 32, joined Manchester United in 2022 and has made 87 appearances for the club, contributing seven goals and 16 assists. United acquired the Denmark international midfielder on a free transfer after he left Brentford.
Lindelof has been with Manchester United since his transfer from Benfica in 2017, playing in 268 matches. The Sweden international centre-back, who turns 31 this summer, was signed for approximately £30.7 million.
In other news, under the management of Ruben Amorim, United has reportedly completed the signing of Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno.
The 17-year-old prodigy has signed all necessary documents and will join United in July 2025.
Leon’s transfer involves an initial fee of $4 million (£3 million), with an additional $4 million (£3 million) possible through add-ons.
Similar to Chelsea’s agreement with Estevao Willian, United cannot officially bring Leon to Old Trafford until after his 18th birthday.
