Matheus Cunha is poised to become Manchester United’s first significant signing of the summer transfer window after the club agreed to meet the release clause in the Wolverhampton Wanderers star’s contract, according to reports from Brazil.
FootballTransfers disclosed that while Arsenal had agreed to personal terms with Cunha earlier in the year, their inability to meet Wolves’ financial demands prevented the deal from materializing, leading to Cunha signing a new contract with a fixed release clause.
Despite huge sum about to be paid for Cunha’s signing, the investment is not deemed excessively above his market value.
For Wolves, the deal represents a substantial profit, given their €50 million payment to Atletico Madrid for Cunha in the summer of 2023.
With his transfer value at a peak and his career entering its prime years, Manchester United will be counting on Cunha to deliver immediately on the pitch and reach new levels of performance in the coming season.
