Man Utd’s plans for Cristiano Ronaldo amid claims he’ll replace Solskjaer

Manchester United do not intend to offer Cristiano Ronaldo any role within their coaching setup, according to reports.

The Portugal international has enjoyed a superb start back at Old Trafford, scoring nine goals in his first 11 appearances back since his summer move from Juventus.

Ronaldo signed a two-year deal, with an option to extend that for another 12 months earlier this summer, which would see him through until he is 39.

That could see the United star end his illustrious playing career, before possibly transitioning into the coaching realms.

Just last month, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position coming under huge scrutiny, Ronaldo was tipped as a possible replacement by former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood.

“I think it’s OK that Ronaldo’s on the touchline and Ole’s going to have to accept it,” Sherwood said. “If he brings him to his football club you’ve got to know what you’re bringing in.

“We’ve seen him do it on the international stage, most recently at the Euros, barking out orders. That boy will be a manager, 100 percent.

“I would have a bet on him being Manchester United manager in 18 months. Whenever Ronaldo finishes playing I think he will become a manager, it will be an automatic choice.”

Reports have emerged that the Portuguese legend would be keen to join Solskjaer’s staff, but Star Sport claim they have no intention of discussing coaching opportunities and suggest he was signed only on a playing basis only.

In fact, bosses are reported to be open to offering him a playing contract beyond 2024, such has been the player’s impact since arriving.
