Man Utd star decides he wants to leave at the end of this season no matter what happens

One of Manchester United’s longest-serving players believes ‘the time is right’ to depart Old Trafford, as he continues to struggle for first-team opportunities under Ruben Amorim.

It has been a dismal season for United. In addition to being eliminated from both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, they currently find themselves in 14th place in the Premier League, with only nine wins from 27 matches. ..Continue Reading

Amorim has been candid about the team’s difficulties. Ahead of their Europa League last-16 match against Real Sociedad, he made a significant statement regarding the upcoming summer transfer window.

Speaking to the media, he conceded that players will have to leave Old Trafford at the end of this campaign in a squad overhaul. “We can talk about that [departures] at the end [of the season],” he said.

“We have a lot of games to play. But that is clear, and I think that is not a difficult situation because everybody understands that in football; sometimes you stay, sometimes you have to move on.”

Amorim added: “When you are honest with someone, they can take it. In the beginning, it is hard, but they will understand. So I’m quite honest with my players and they already know that sometimes they have to move on at the end of the season.”

Considering the current situation, it looks like center-back Victor Lindelof could be among the first to exit Manchester United this summer.

Since Ruben Amorim took over in November, the Swedish defender has only played two minutes in the league. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, his time at Old Trafford seems to be nearing its conclusion.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Lindelof is interested in returning to Benfica, eight years after leaving the Primeira Liga club for Manchester United.

The report further mentions that the seasoned defender frequently visits Portugal and believes that the time is right for a long-awaited return to the Estadio da Luz.

The Times suggests that Benfica has prioritized Lindelof on their list of summer targets, although discussions are still in the early stages.

Meanwhile, Manchester United may look to sign a new center-back in the summer, considering Lisandro Martinez’s injury issues.
