Leny Yoro, who arrived from Lille in a deal worth up to £58.9 million, was seen as a major coup for United last summer after they beat out competition from Madrid.

The French centre-back was hailed as a future star and even dubbed the “new Raphael Varane,” but his debut season in England was disrupted by injuries and inconsistent form.

According to a report from Defensa Central, Yoro is said to regret turning down Real Madrid’s offer in favor of United’s more lucrative proposal.

The Spanish outlet claims the 19-year-old feels he made a “serious mistake” by prioritizing financial terms over the chance to play at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Despite making 33 appearances and showing flashes of promise late in the season, Yoro’s struggles have reportedly left him questioning his decision.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid remain interested in the young defender and could revisit their pursuit if the opportunity arises.

As United continue their summer rebuild under Ruben Amorim—having already signed Matheus Cunha and targeted Bryan Mbeumo, Viktor Gyökeres, and Victor Osimhen—Yoro’s situation adds another layer of intrigue to the club’s evolving defensive plans.

It states ‘the worst thing for Yoro is the feeling of having made a serious mistake, adding that ‘the defender feels regret for not having accepted the Madrid’s club offer last summer’.

Given that he’s only 19, there’s still a strong possibility that Yoro could eventually make the move to Real Madrid.

By the time his current contract expires, he’ll still be in his early twenties, leaving plenty of time for a potential switch.

Yoro made his first official appearance for Manchester United in December, having missed the start of the season due to a pre-season injury.

He went on to feature in 33 matches across all competitions, including 21 outings during what was a disappointing Premier League campaign for the club.
