Before United’s final Premier League match of the season, Amorim reportedly informed Garnacho that he would be allowed to leave the club during the summer transfer window. ..Continue Reading
It was later claimed that Amorim delivered this message in front of the squad during a meeting at Carrington, effectively signaling the end of Garnacho’s time at Old Trafford.
Since making his first-team debut in 2022, Garnacho has featured in numerous matches for United and was once regarded as one of the club’s most promising young talents.
However, his influence has waned this season, and his comments following United’s Europa League final loss to Tottenham reportedly frustrated Amorim.
United are open to offers for Garnacho, as they were earlier in the year when Chelsea and Napoli showed interest in signing him.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Amad Diallo hopes Garnacho remains at the club, insisting that the speculation is not affecting the squad.
Given Amorim’s stance, it was unexpected to see Garnacho included in United’s post-season match against SEAN All-Stars.
Speaking ahead of Man United’s next post-season game against Hong Kong, Amad said: ‘Alejandro is a really good player and we need good players in the team.
‘I know Garna really well, so I hope to have Garna next season. It is not really a big issue for the team. Everything is good now, I think.’
Amorim, meanwhile, said it was ‘normal’ for Garnacho to be on United’s post-season tour.
‘It is not a surprise,’ the Old Trafford boss said. ‘He is a player of Manchester United, all the players are here.
‘Some players are injured and it was better for them not to fly here to play these two games. It is a normal situation.’
Ex-Manchester United player Gordon Strachan has backed Amorim’s decision to axe Garnacho
‘Garnacho’s got to go,’ Strachan told Esports Insider. ‘I think he shows a lack of maturity and needs a real wake-up call.
‘Manchester United is far too good of a club to listen to him whingeing and whining all the time. ‘You wonder what the players at Manchester United are thinking about Alejandro Garnacho’s actions.
‘He should be looking after his teammates after they lost the Europa League final, not promoting himself with his comments.
‘If he doesn’t want to be a team player then I think it’s best he just goes somewhere else.
‘If the manager decides he’s not picking you, you’ve got to think of the reason, and quite often that starts by looking at yourself.
‘In life the best thing to do when something isn’t going your way or you have issues is to look at yourself and think whether it stems from you.
‘It’s rare that players take that stance anymore and look at themselves before whining about their problems.’
