That result marked the first time head coach Ruben Amorim had seen his team secure back-to-back victories since succeeding Erik ten Hag in the autumn of 2024.
United face another challenging fixture in the Premier League this week, as the 20-time English champions prepare to take on Brighton at Old Trafford.
Yet, despite the recent improvement in United’s form, not every player is satisfied with their role under Amorim.
According to the Mirror, sidelined forward Joshua Zirkzee is seeking an exit during the winter transfer window, which begins on January 1.
The Netherlands international joined United from Serie A outfit Bologna for £36m during Ten Hag’s tenure in July 2024, but has struggled to secure a regular starting spot.
The 24-year-old has recorded just seven goals and three assists in 53 appearances for the Red Devils, and remains low in the selection order under Amorim, who has only given him three appearances this season.
Zirkzee’s desire to leave is reportedly linked to his ambition to play in the 2026 World Cup, with Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman having advised him that consistent starts are essential for selection to the Oranje squad.
The Mirror’s report suggests the player prefers to stay in the Premier League, though he remains open to a move elsewhere in Europe, having previously attracted interest from several Italian clubs, including Juventus. Zirkzee’s current deal with United runs until summer 2029.
As per talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, West Ham may pursue Zirkzee in January to bolster their attacking options, with Niclas Fullkrug sidelined again and Callum Wilson dealing with recurring injuries.
Crook also noted that the Hammers could face competition from Roma if the Italian side opts to end Evan Ferguson’s loan from Brighton, as the Irishman has yet to impress at the Stadio Olimpico.
