Man Utd star’s public reaction to Bryan Mbeumo transfer speaks volumes

Word of the 25-year-old’s decision to join United, turning down interest from Arsenal, Newcastle, and Spurs—surfaced in early June.

But the deal dragged on for six weeks, leaving fans increasingly impatient during a pivotal transfer window.

Yoro’s remarks after United’s goalless friendly against Leeds suggested that the players shared that same sense of frustration.

The 19-year-old featured in the second half alongside Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven in Ruben Amorim’s backline during the match in Stockholm.

As he passed through the mixed zone at the Strawberry Arena, Yoro was asked about Mbeumo’s imminent arrival.

He expressed enthusiasm about linking up with the new signing, but also noted how long the negotiations had taken to wrap up.

“Bryan is a really good player. I am really happy he has come to the club,” Yoro told United’s Scandinavian Supporters’ Club.

“That is my guy. I am waiting for him now! That was long, that was long, but he is here now and I’m really happy!”

Yoro, fluent in French, is expected to be one of the teammates who’ll stick close to Mbeumo when Manchester United head to the U.S. for their pre-season tour on Tuesday.

Andre Onana is also likely to play a key role in helping Mbeumo settle in, with reports suggesting he had a hand in convincing his fellow Cameroonian to make the move.

Mbeumo joins Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon as part of United’s summer recruitment, pushing the club’s total spending to roughly £140 million.

Manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly still in the market for another striker to complete his attacking rebuild, though further signings may depend on player departures.

Marcus Rashford is heading to Barcelona on a loan deal that includes a purchase option, potentially saving United around £17 million in wages.

Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are also expected to leave, as they continue to train separately from the main squad.
