Mbeumo signed a five-year deal, becoming the club’s third major acquisition of the summer after Matheus Cunha and left-back Diego Leon joined earlier in the window.
After training at Carrington, Mbeumo linked up with the squad for their pre-season tour in the United States, where Ruben Amorim’s side will face West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton in the Premier League Summer Series.
The team is currently stationed in Chicago and will take on West Ham this Sunday, with Mbeumo—formerly of Troyes—expected to be in the starting lineup.
Both he and Cunha are likely to feature in attacking midfield roles, and a recent report from the Manchester Evening News offers insight into how they’ve settled in.
Club insiders have shared that the early feedback on Cunha and Mbeumo has been overwhelmingly positive.
The duo have been praised for their strong personalities and smooth integration into the squad. Journalist Samuel Luckhurst noted that they’ve “injected new energy” to the team and are seen as “good characters.”
Despite only finalizing his move earlier this week, Mbeumo already feels at home and has spoken highly of manager Ruben Amorim and the rest of the squad.
“He seems really close to his players,” Mbeumo said in an interview with the club’s official website.
“His mentality, his winning thinking every time, this is the thing I need. I always wanted to play at the highest level. Now I’m here and I just want to show what I can do.
“It seems to be a really good group, the spirit is really important and I’ve only heard good things about the gaffer and the team. It’s really important for me to create links as soon as possible with my team-mates, in and out of the pitch.
