REVEALED: Man Utd’s plans for Mason Greenwood after Jadon Sancho transfer

Greenwood

Manchester United star Mason Greenwood will be given more chances in a central forward position next campaign once the club complete a £75m transfer for Jadon Sancho.

United are hopeful of concluding a deal for Sancho in the coming days, with the Red devils and Dortmund reported to be just £4million apart in their valuation of the former Man City winger.

Sancho has wanted to join the club for the last 18 months and Solskjaer believes he is the solution to United’s issues on the right flank, which hasn’t been fixed since Sir Alex Ferguson’s exit in 2013.

Greenwood was majorly used from the right flank last campaign, with the teenager only given few chances in his favoured central role because of Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial.

But, United believe Greenwood’s future lies through the middle and they feel the addition of Sancho could give more opportunities for him to play centrally next campaign.

It is part of United’s plan to make Greenwood their next no.9 and it could mean they can drop their interest in Haaland and Harry Kane.

Once Sancho is through the door, Solskjaer hopes to sign a new central defender to his side.

United are interested in Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane but they’ll move for Villarreal’s Pau Torres if a move for the player proves too costly.

Kieran Trippier is a target at right-back but Atletico Madrid are believed to be seeking £40m for the player, who moved to the La Liga team from Tottenham for £20m just two years ago.
