Sadio Mane voted worst outfield player in Bundesliga by fellow professionals

Despite the final day Bundesliga title win, Sadio Mane’s first campaign at Bayern Munich was a disappointment & now it’s emerged his fellow players agree.

Mane left Liverpool after six superb years, joining Bayern in a £35m switch. At the time, some labelled it the “worst bit of business” in history from after his huge contributions to the success achieved by the Reds.

But while there is still an argument to say Liverpool missed him down the left, Mane wasn’t his usual self in Bavaria.

He finished with 12 goals in all competitions as Bayern saw off Dortmund to claim yet another title on a dramatic last day.

Mane was an unused substitute against Koln. He missed the World Cup with Senegal after suffering a fibula and was then hit with a fine and suspension from his club after punching teammate Leroy Sane.

The clash is reported to have taken place in the dressing room after the 3-0 Champions League quarter-final first leg defeat to Man City.

The matter was already closed at Bayern but it seems as though players in the Bundesliga used it as a factor in their end-of-season votes.

Every year, all 252 professionals have their say on the player of the season – as well as which outfielder was a disappointment.

And according to Kicker, Mane accrued a whopping 41.7% of the votes to win by a landslide.

26.9% refused to vote or select other, while Mane’s colleagues Joshua Kimmich, Sane and Goretzka were also in the unwanted top five along with Anthony Modeste of Dortmund.

As far the player of the season award, Eintracht Frankfurt star Kolo Muani finished in first place with 24.2% of the votes after an incredible 15-goal campaign.
