Marcelo asks to leave Madrid after Arsenal offer

Arsenal are in the race to sign Marcelo as the Brazil left-back has asked to leave Santiago Bernabeu, according to reports in Spain.

The 31-year-old defender has spent 13 seasons at Real Madrid, winning four La Liga trophies and the Champions League four times.

But his place in Zinedine Zidane’s team is now under serious threat after Real completed the signing of French left-back Ferland Mendy in a £47 million deal from Lyon earlier this summer window.

According to Sport, Marcelo wants to leave the club this summer having received offers and his representatives are in talks with the club’s president Florentino Perez.

The report claims that Arsenal are among the clubs who have registered their interest in Brazilian, but they face strong competition.

Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and AC Milan have also informed Marcelo of their interest in signing him and he is now considering his options.

Marcelo is currently on holiday after he was dropped from Brazil’s team for the Copa America competition.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are looking to strengthen their defense ahead of the new campaign and are also in talks with Celtic over a deal for their left-back Kieran Tierney.
