Marco Verratti hits out at Arsenal boss Unai Emery’s style

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has become the latest former player to criticise Unai Emery after his exit, saying the squad have found back their smile since he left.

The Spanish coach who is now in charge of Arsenal, won the Ligue 1 title during his final campaign in France, though had several issues with players and was criticised for their failure to compete well in the Champions League.

Brazilian defenderThiago Silva has already taken a swipe at Emery, and now Verratti has also criticised the current Arsenal manager’s cold style.

‘This year, we have a good relationship with the coach and the staff,’ Verratti told Le Parisien.

‘Each manager has a different way of doing things with his players, of making them understand things. Sometimes with Emery, things were quite difficult.’

Asked further on whether the difference related to their personalities, Verratti continued: ‘Yes I think so.

‘Tuchel isn’t playing around… but coming to a training session with a shut-off face, that doesn’t work. We have found our smile again, we had lost it a little.’

PSG have won all eight of their Ligue 1 games and sit top of the table with full points, eight points clear of nearest team Lille.
